Most commonly we identify forensically important insects to species and answer questions about their development relative to the events in a case. Often we are able to provide an estimate of the postmortem interval. In civil cases involving living maggots feeding on people (what is called myiasis), we can estimate the length of time maggots have been present.
There are no charges for initial consultations. All cases in the State of Nebraska are pro bono. Similarly, we are willing to consider pro bono work in other locations depending on specifics of the case. For all other situations, we charge a flat $500 for case analysis and written report (up to 10 hours of work, $150/h over 10 hours). For testimony in deposition or trial we charge hourly rates of $300/h plus travel expenses.
